Open Series - Held in the Light
Over the past year I’ve received a growing number of messages asking whether prints of my photographs are available. I’ve taken my time with that decision. If an image is going to leave my hard drive and find a place in someone’s home, I want it to reflect the same care that went into making it in the first place.
The Open Series is my way of approaching that thoughtfully. A small collection released every few months, printed by me on premium paper, carefully packaged and sent by me. Deliberately simple. Deliberately limited.
The first collection, ‘The Coast’, was shaped with the help of this community and the response genuinely meant a great deal to me.
This second series, ‘Held in the Light’, explores high-key black and white bird photography, quiet moments held in soft light, where detail begins to fall away and shape, gesture and presence take over.
Photography is subjective. As the photographer, I can become attached to certain images for personal reasons; the conditions, the effort, the memory of the day. But an open series should feel broader than that.
For each release, I’ll shortlist five images that I believe meet the brief, in this case, ‘Held in the Light’ a series of high key bird images and I’d value your perspective in shaping the final selection.
Which images feel right for this series? Please choose the images that you’d be happy to live with.
Your selections will determine the final three prints in this series.
And, as a thank you for helping to shape the series, one contributor will receive the print of their choice from the final series.

Selecting the Final Three
Only three of these five images will become part of the final collection.
There isn’t a right or wrong choice here. Some images are quieter, some more immediate, some reveal themselves more slowly over time. I’d simply value your perspective on which three feel strongest together as a collection, and which you’d be happiest to live with.
